A Salted Soul Charters will soon be offering several destination fishing trips both here in North Carolina as well as Alabama’s Gulf Shores and to the Islands of Sanibel and Captiva in South Florida. More information coming soon.
Redfish
Here is a little trivia, the Redfish is not only NC’s state fish, the World Record for this species was caught in the surf somewhere near Avon, NC by David Deul on November 7, 1984, it’s IGFA recognized weight was 94lbs and 2ozs. We catch redfish pretty much year round and they can be found up and down the East coast and throughout the Gulf from the Florida Keys to Texas.
NC Striper Excursions
There a three main fisheries in our areas along the coast where Stripers can be caught. Although stripers can be caught year round the prime seasons are typically from late November thru early May.
Flounder Fishing
North Carolina has one of the best flounder fisheries anywhere. In recent years NCDMF has set a recreational season for this fish due to the depletion of stock, but from all indications this species seems to be making a great come back. They remain fairly easy and readily caught. Keep in mind, this species can only be kept within the scheduled season and within regulated length requirements.
Pan Fish
Never eliminate our area’s panfish. Spots, Croaker, Pigfish, Pompano and Sea Mulllet make excellent table fare. These species are not only delicious, they can be caught from late April through November.
